Introducing Our Employees
NTT DATA Global Services Corporation introduces the career opportunities and current work profile of NTT DATA Global Services employees.
Service Delivery Manager
We endeavor to meet customer expectations through smooth communication and prompt support
- We have our team deployed at the customer site and provide service desk and field service
- We have a team that is deployed at the customer site and provides IT services. I am in charge of the team providing service desk and field service for the customer. Our service desk provides primary support on phone to the end users facing issues when using the PC and applications. We further provide secondary support, if needed, to resolve the issues that cannot be resolved during primary support. My role is to supervise the daily customer handling operations of my staff and suggest new technologies and services for the customers.
- We identify the latent needs of the customer and contribute to improving customer's operational efficiency
-
We establish a trusted relationship with customers and improve service quality maintenance through smooth communication with the IT administrator of the customer company and quick customer support. We provide support to the operations that cannot be done by the customer team alone and suggest solutions proactively by anticipating the issues likely to be faced by the customer. Sometimes we do receive complaints, however, I think it is important to resolve the issues one by one and keep the work going. We have also received many positive feedbacks from our customers saying that our solutions have greatly improved their environment and operational efficiency. In cases where we were informed well in advance about the PC installation at the customer site, we could satisfy the customer with smooth installation support by keeping us well equipped with the required resources.
- Our role is decided at the time of joining the company. We visit many global companies. Finally, we are deployed at an overseas location.
- I was posted in China immediately after my graduation. The company office was in Dalian. Those were the times when many MNCs had started entering the global market as overseas outsourcing bases. Japanese, English, and European languages were mainly used as a means of communication. As most of my schooling was done in China, my posting in China was exactly what I had wished. However, soon I realized that this alone was not enough to be a successful global player. I came across several global challenges every day. I was in charge of the team supporting PC users in Japan and Japan business abroad. I had to work hard with the Japanese businessmen for the first 6 years. Among many colleagues coming from Japan and posted in China, I was the one who was on overseas assignment for a long period. Most of those colleagues returned back to their country by selecting other career options or changing their jobs. That was the time when I got an overview of global business.
- Moving the business to B2B from B2C. The period that determined by present career
- After 6 years of experience in PC support and end user support, I was transferred to outsourcing business department of an insurance company. I was making a big decision here as well. I had to choose between two options: Return to Japan or continue with new career option in Dalian. Out of which, I chose the second option and extended my stay for 4 years, thus spending a total of 10 years in Dalian. In the B2B business, I got experience of working in partnership with customers. Here, we provided outsourcing services to the members of the customer's IT department, but I think that my earlier experience of the support received from the customers' IT team helped me in building the base of my career step. This was the period where I moved from "me and customers" relationship to "me, customer partners and end users" relationship.
Sales Director
Create a new team and provide valuable solution service with the help of the team
- Collaborating with the customers at global level
- In my previous company, I used to sell software as a product. However, my interest in system installation and selling solution to the customers made me join this company. Most foreign-affiliated Japanese companies only work in Japan. But in our company, we can work with our Japanese customers across the global companies. We are involved in the discussions since the early stage where we decide whether to integrate the systems in the US, Europe, and Asia, or install SAP systems individually in each area. We truly enjoy working together with the customer.
- Provide solutions by thinking 4 to 5 years ahead of the global market and through thorough analysis of the problems and detailed account plan.
-
Approximately 90% of our customers are leading Japanese manufacturers. We develop our customers by holding marketing seminars and by collaborating with our group companies. We are aware of the fact that we must win the competition to win an order. I cultivate a hypothetical competitive environment to train my staff to win the competition. We draw a matrix of the strengths and weaknesses of our competitors and our company, and analyze them thoroughly. Further, we create an account plan that designs the solutions by thinking four to five years ahead of the market and covers the customer's plan, mid-term plan, and other solutions to offer. We don't wait for the customers to request for solutions, rather, we help them to identify the issues in advance and keep the solutions ready.
- We believe in providing logical solutions rather than waiting for the requests from the customers
- We emphasize not only on the meetings with the sales team, but also on the review meetings involving stakeholders and engineers involved in the project. It is important for a Sales Director to impart a vision that can be shared with the project members. I think this will enable them to come up with effective solutions and promote good sales through team discussions and exchange of ideas. Thus, in my opinion it is important to win as a team, rather than as an individual.
- I would like to seize the opportunity to work in the environment that provides onsite opportunities and challenging tasks
- We couldn't have managed so much of global business with the existing strength of our company. Besides, we are engaged into direct transactions with the global customers. Although we have the advantage of the brand name NTT DATA Group, we can at the same time enjoy working in our own way without relying on the company reputation. There is no set process as such and hence we have the freedom to form the team from the scratch with members who are willing to work together. Since the technical team also provides quick support, it is indeed fun to deliver the projects while interacting and discussing the solutions as a team. In fact, we are now thinking of starting a new business. We hope that those who join our company hereafter, will enjoy the challenging environment in our company.
Project Manager
I have an opportunity to build my dream career here
- I joined this company because it promised the career growth that I was looking for
- Earlier, I was working in an IT consulting company and was deployed at customer location on a development project. However, there, I didn't have the opportunity to contribute to the project by presenting my ideas. So I decided to change the job as I could see no career prospects. The main reason for joining NTT DATA Global Services Corporation was that I could see the opportunity to work with various applications and domains. Also, I could see many challenging projects that would enrich my experience as a Project Manager. Currently, I am involved in SAP consulting from a technical perspective, working on SAP installation support, system upgrades, and global deliveries.
- Wide spread experience from Maintenance support operations to global delivery
-
Basically, I am in charge of maintenance support operations, where we provide solutions after determining whether a system failure has occurred due to a bug or due to insufficient training. We perform Fit Gap analysis to identify and analyse the gaps between actual system solutions provided by us and functional requirements of the customers who have installed new SAP system. My global delivery operations involve the roll-out of Japanese companies to Vietnam and the roll-in of US companies to Japan. Different countries have different business practices, laws, and rules. Considering this, we provide the SAP system installation services in a way that bridges the gap.
- I moved to the role of a Manager, managing the team and pursued my career growth
- In my earlier job, I played the role of a programmer, whereas, here I am in charge of a team, thus progressing in my career path. The important part of my job is to connect with the team daily and check the project completion status at every milestone. Another important role is to ensure teamwork. Working together till the end as a team and delivering the project in the given timeline gives the entire team a sense of pride and accomplishment. Working in a team makes each team player own the responsibility for his / her contribution towards the successful completion of the project. In one such SAP installation project for a customer in Asia-Pacific, our team was successful in understanding the customer's business requirements in detail and install a successful SAP system accordingly. This success boosted the confidence of the team members.
- Opportunity to choose diverse career paths in a global environment
- Recently, I am gaining interest in pre-sales work. Our company provides a variety of career opportunities thus encouraging the employees to shift their role from the engineering department to the sales department, or from SAP department to other engineering department as per their interest. Such an open environment wherein we can freely discuss about career and work challenges is indeed a motivating environment. Here, at NTT, I can experience a fine combination of Japanese culture, where details are considered to be of utmost importance in any project, and global environment, where flexibility is important. Also, one can avail the paid leaves as long as the work is not hampered. Thus, an environment that respects cultural diversity and gives adequate freedom to the employees, definitely makes it a better place to work.
